Moonbeams, Rose Smith, November 10, 1999

Have you ever looked at the moon in wonder and amazement and asked yourself, "Have men really walked on the moon?" I have. The moon has been a topic of conversation pro and con, fearful, haunting, romantic and on-and-on infinitum. Here are my personal impressions regarding the moon.

My home faces west and when I get up early in the morning and the full moon is casting moon beams on my living room rug, I get a wonderful feeling of complacency that all is right with the world, and a kind of glow with which to start my day.Moon - Front and Back, digital photograph of poster, Nancy Hopkins

My day normally starts with a trip downstairs to feed Kat between 7-7:15 A. M. I start my walk around the pool or sometimes the beach, for an hour at a rapid pace. This I follow with a half-hour of water aerobics in our pool, with other like-minded neighbors. I believe it is this daily routine which has kept me happy to be alive. Just a little bit of exercise and a walk in nature in the morning sun will do wonders for you.

After a brunch I relax with my Web TV. I'm fascinated and becoming addicted to it. Web TV allows me to connect with the Internet and, through e-mail, my grandchildren, daughter, and friends. I know many of you may be scared of this new world. Don't be. Consider me one of a growing number who you can turn to should you need a little direction.

In the afternoon, I'm off to a game of mahjong, canasta, or sometimes bridge. And, of course, I say hello to Kat. (Click to see story about Kat.)

By the way, Kat and I had a temporary parting of the ways. She bit me on the leg and actually drew blood! I am told that the biting was her way of expressing affection, but that kind of love I can do without. I know I shall forgive her and I have just restarted feeding her, after two weeks. She still waits for me every morning and guides me to her feeding spot.

I am awaiting your thoughts about the 20th Century (click for article) and stories you all have about your pets, adventures, and experiences. Please, write and either e-mail or mail me your articles.

Sincerely,
Rose Smith
