Another E-Mail Virus
Derivative Of Last Summer's Worm.Explore.Zip

Tuesday, November 30, 1999 an e-mail delivered virus struck numerous companies, from small to Fortune 500, and could still be lying dormant in other email inboxes. The virus devours files and cripples e-mail.

The parent bug of "Mini-Zip" is Worm.Explore.Zip from last summer. As did the parent, Mini-Zip attacks through the Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, or Exchange browsers. The virus attaches itself to a clean-e-mail and then automatically sends itself as a response, further propogating.

The body reads: "Hi (recipient's name)! I received your e-mail and I shall send you an e-mail ASAP. Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs. bye." The "zipped-files.exe" attached file will unleash the virus if you double click on the attachment button. The bug destroys hard-drive files by replacing them with empty files.

Do not open e-mails if you do not know the sender or why they were send. The virus can be fought by updated anti-virus software.
