As the molten celestial sphere cooled into what we call Earth, various combinations of chemicals came together. In certain areas, copper with other minerals were deposited in long veins into the surrounding crust, to become "copper ore".

Rain water, floods and both surface and underground rivers rushed through the upper layer of earth and copper ore, dissolving pieces of copper and other minerals and taking them deeper underground. In the process, two minerals were created which do not differ chemically except for the amount of water they hold.

Malachite - green

Azurite - blue

Malachite is a basic copper carbonate along with Azurite, its chemical twin. The only differences is that Azurite holds less water than Malachite. The green patina on weathered copper roofs is a form of Malachite. Both Malachite and Azurite are formed when carbon dioxide and water weather copper ore or when copper ore weathers the mineral calcite. Azurite is found in shades of deep blue and is much more rare then Malachite.

THE ENERGIES OF AZURITE AND MALACHITE

The idea that energies are contained within all minerals is a fact. The following discussion is based upon the concept that minerals release their energies into the human electro-magnetic field, providing missing, depleted, or needed energies by the human being. While this concept is contained within many ancient cultures, the modern medical establishment has not indorsed such a concept. Anyone with health problems should consult their medical practitioner.

The primal forces that create Azurite-Malachite are flowing water and copper ore. These energies are contained in the twin minerals. The high level of conductivity (carrier of electricity) exhibited by copper allows both Azurite and Malachite to bring vitality and the enhancement of the five senses. The primal force of rushing water provides a balancing energy on the emotions. The balance between water and copper which creates Malachite and Azurite, instills a balanced energy within the Twins. This balanced energy attunes the human physical cells to march in union, as if to the same drummer.

Malachite's Energies...

Malachite is the one green stone never confused with another. The swirling dark and light green bands of Malachite are easily identified. The name is derived from malachite's color resembling the green leaves of the mallow plant.

In Ancient Egypt Malachite was revered as the Great Healing Stone. It is said to promote complete tissue regeneration at the cellular level, by aligning the etheric and emotional energy bodies.

In all cultures, it is considered a symbol of the Goddess, be it Hathor, Aphrodite, Venus, or Freya as Malachite is known to alleviate menstrual problems and eases labor.

Right-left imbalance of the brain such as autism, dyslexia, epilepsy, coordination disorders and certain visual problems may be helped by Malachite's balanced energies.

Interpretation of Malachite's green color aids in understanding Malachite's energetic nature. Green is the color of hope, growth, promise and harmony as it signifies an opening of the heart chakra. When the heart chakra is opened, energy is allowed to flow, increasing circulation and activity of red corpuscles which aids in eliminating toxic build up in the fatty tissues. The heart, pineal and pituitary glands are strengthened. And, as the green color signifies, the liver and gallbladder are stimulated, furthering detoxification. This opened heart energy, the enhanced circulation system, and the detoxification results in an invigorated human being.

Azurite's Energies:

There is less water content in Azurite and it is reflected in its color. There is less power and agitation, there is a cooling and calming that comes with less water and is reflected as blue. As with Malachite, it is the color that gives away the energy secrets of Azurite.

Azurite opens the throat chakra and energizes the mental facilities. As the sense are enhanced, hearing increases in the calm brought with Azurite until you can hear the small whisper of your own thoughts, own desires, own hopes.

And with the vitality left over from the movement of flowing water, comes the necessity to let go of those thoughts and fears that would keep you immobile. Azurite makes you want to get up and go and experience the truth.
